Lambda Chi Alpha
Nicknames: Lambda Chi, Lambda, Chops
Lambda Chi Alpha was started at the University of Iowa in 1962 (nationally in 1909). One of the things that set us apart is our teeter-totter philanthropy which takes place every spring semester. It is one of the highest-raising philanthropies in Greek life in Iowa, raising more than $10,000 annually. We are an anti-hazing fraternity, we have abolished pledgeship and replaced it with associate membership. We provide all members, whether new associates or actives, opportunities for leadership roles. I joined because I saw a fraternity with a great group of men who valued brotherhood, were gentlemen, and not only were leaders but provided leadership opportunities.
